Thanksgiving is one of the major national holidays in America. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November.

"First Thanksgiving" goes back to 1621 when 53 Pilgrims celebrated their good first harvest in the New World together with 90 Native Americans. The feast lasted three days.

After that Thanksgiving celebrations were held periodically on different dates in various colonies, either in honor of a military victory, or an exceptionally bountiful crop or an adoption of a state constitution.

In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to praise "our beneficent Father" for many fortunes and blessings. Since 1863, Thanksgiving Day has been observed in the United States annually.
